QUESTIONS

DO YOU TATTOO MINORS?
I don’t tattoo minors. All  clients must be 18+ with a state issued photo ID to get tattooed. 

DO YOU REQUIRE A DEPOSIT?
I require a $50 or $100 deposit depending on the size of the project. All deposits are nonrefundable but they are deducted from the final price of your tattoo. Your deposit solidifies your appointment in my calendar & is sent in the form of email invoice. Deposits must be paid within 72 hours (3 days) from the time the deposit is received or your appointment will not be booked. For tattoos that require multiple appointments, your deposit will be deducted at the end of the final appointment.  Deposits expire after 12 months from the date they were paid.

Deposits will be FORFEITED if:

  • If you cancel your appointment 

  • If you no call / no show without a 48 hour notice to reschedule

  • Rescheduling more than 3 times will result in the loss of your deposit and appointment. Scheduling another appointment after 3 times will require a new deposit of the same amount.



CAN I SEE MY DRAWING BEFORE THE APPOINTMENT?
I typically start to draw the week before each appointment date. This allows me to organize my schedule and keep up with all of my wonderful clients. Because of this, your design will not be available until you arrive at the shop on the day of your appointment. I leave time for small design edits at the beginning of each appointment, but major changes might result in the need to reschedule your appointment. Giving me as much information as you can about your desired tattoo design in the initial booking can help avoid the need for excessive changes. 

DO YOU ALLOW CLIENTS TO USE NUMBING CREAMS?
I do, but I recommend you ask me about specific brands and techniques before moving forward with topical numbing creams. Some are unsafe to use in large quantities and can affect the outcome of the tattoo. 

HOW DO I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?
My books open on the first of every month for appointments the following month. Please keep an eye on my Instagram for updates & about specific dates to submit booking requests. 

WHAT IF I FORGOT MY ID?

I am unable to tattoo anyone without a state issued photo ID and cannot make any exceptions. I work closely with the Coconino County Health Department and the City of Flagstaff to ensure all rules & regulations are being followed in my studio and with each individual client. 

HOW DO I SCHEDULE A TOUCH UP?

Each client receives one free touch up per tattoo. After that, any touch up work will cost the same as my hourly rate or the shop minimum. The free touch up must be used within one year of your initial appointment.  Prolonged exposure to sun and overall fading over time do not warrant a free touchup. Please email me at katepenn.booking@gmail.com if you are in need of your free touch up, you do not need to wait until my books are open for this kind of appointment request. 

WHAT PAYMENT OPTIONS DO YOU ACCEPT?

I can accept cash or card for all tattoo payments. (optional) Tip cannot be accepted on card, but can be accepted via Venmo, Zelle, or cash. 

HOW SHOULD I PREP FOR MY TATTOO APPOINTMENT BEFOREHAND? 

Make sure you eat a big meal the day of your tattoo. Blood sugar dropping is the main trigger for fainting & nausea during a tattoo appointment (feel free to bring snacks as well). In addition, make sure to drink lots of water the day prior, and avoid alcohol consumption for a few days before your appointment. Please try to avoid letting the tattoo area get sunburned or having too much sun exposure beforehand. No need to shave the area, I will do that for you! 

 

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR? 

I typically recommend wearing black as tattoo ink can stain clothing very easily. For sternum/chest tattoos I recommend wearing a button up shirt like a flannel or cardigan so accessing the tattoo area is easy but you also feel comfortable! For leg or hip tattoos I recommend flowy pants that can be moved to the side or shorts. 


WHAT IS CONSIDERED A "NO SHOW"?

If you are over 15 minutes late to your appointment with no prior warning, I will consider it to be a "no show" appointment & you will not be able to get tattooed that day. Your nonrefundable deposit will be kept by me. Your appointment can be rescheduled at the start of the next booking period and with a new nonrefundable deposit of the same amount. More than one "no show" appointment will result in me permanently removing you from my client list.

IS THERE ANY NEED TO REACH OUT BEFORE MY APPOINTMENT DATE?

Once you pay your invoice, your appointment is confirmed in my calendar. There is no need to reach out beforehand unless you have questions or concerns. The studio location and payment options will be sent to you in a confirmation email after you pay your deposit. If I reach out to you with questions regarding your appointment and do not receive a response from you within one week, I will assume that you are forfeiting your appointment and deposit. I have many clients to stay in touch with as their appointments approach and I require good communication & respect of my time and process to move forward with that client. Just as you expect fluid communication with me, I expect the same from you.
